PECU Announces Monumental Growth and Strategic Expansion in Landmark Year

PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD – PECU Credit Union has unveiled a year of extraordinary success in its 2025 Annual Report, highlighted by a staggering surge in profitability, robust growth in its loan portfolio, and a bold new chapter in its strategic expansion. The report showcases an organization in a position of exceptional strength, delivering significant returns to its members and solidifying its future with key investments.

A Financial Turnaround for the Ages

The 2024-2025 fiscal year has been nothing short of remarkable for PECU. After a conservative performance last year, the Credit Union has reported a phenomenal increase in net surplus, demonstrating impressive financial stewardship and strategic success. This outstanding result paves the way for a proposed 4% dividend to be paid to members from the current year’s profits.

Key Performance Highlights:

✔ Net Surplus Skyrockets:
A massive leap to over $7 Million, up from approximately $456,000 in the previous year.
✔ Total Assets Grow:
The asset base increased to a strong $199.4 Million.
✔ Loan Portfolio Expands:
Loans to members grew by over $8 Million to reach $109.2 Million, signaling high member confidence.
✔ Membership Increases:
The PECU family grew to 7,414 members.

Building Tomorrow: A New Era of Expansion

A cornerstone of this year’s success is the strategic decision to purchase the building at 51-53 Park Street, directly opposite the head office. Approved at a Special General Meeting, this acquisition is a significant investment in PECU’s future, promising new revenue streams from rental income and providing crucial space for data storage and future development. This move perfectly embodies the AGM’s theme: “Building Tomorrow Together.”

Looking Ahead: Innovation and Member Focus

PECU continues to innovate for its members. A long-awaited digitalization project is set to launch in September 2025, promising to enhance the mobile and online banking experience. Furthermore, community-focused initiatives like the SEA Bursary Programme, which awarded tablets and shares to 33 students, underscore PECU’s deep commitment to the social and financial well-being of its members.

“PECU stands as a stable organization with excess liquidity, which we have prudently invested with minimal risk. I extend my sincere thanks to the board, committees, management, and staff for their relentless efforts and dedication. I am also deeply grateful to our membership for entrusting us with the honor of serving you.”

– Victor Quintin, President of PECU
